Kuiji

Kuiji (632–682) studied under Xuanzang and worked in his translation circle in Chang'an. Based at Daci'en Monastery, he became known as the master of Ci'en. His commentary on the Cheng weishi lun explains the synthesis of Indian Yogācāra interpretations transmitted by Xuanzang. He also wrote on Buddhist logic and the Lotus Sūtra, and later Faxiang lineages regarded him as a founding teacher.
