Heze Shenhui

Heze Shenhui publicly championed Huineng's lineage and criticized the claims of teachers associated with Shenxiu. His campaign helped establish the distinction between Southern and Northern Chan. Zongmi later inherited the Heze tradition and discussed its teachings in his accounts of Chan.
